Authentication

In this article: Password, Fast unlock, Biometric login (Windows Hello or Touch ID)

1. Password

When you press the SafeInCloud icon on the browser toolbar to autofill a login form, the extension asks you to authenticate. By default, you should enter your SafeInCloud password.

You can adjust how often the extension requires the password at the Autofill tab in the SafeInCloud desktop app’s Options.

2. Fast unlock

Alternatively, you can authenticate using the Fast unlock method: with 4 first or 4 last password symbols. You have only one attempt, if it fails you will need to enter a whole password.

You can enable and configure Fast unlock at the Security tab in the SafeInCloud desktop app’s Options.

3. Biometric login

Finally, you can authenticate using the biometric login: Windows Hello on Windows 10 or Touch ID on macOS. In this method, the SafeInCloud app’s authentication window appears outside the browser, it activates the system’s biometric authentication (Windows Hello or Touch ID), and then after the authentication it returns control to the browser.

Note: In Firefox browser the biometric login dismisses the extension popup. In this case you should press the SafeInCloud icon on the browser toolbar again.

You can enable the Login win Windows Hello (or Login with Touch ID on macOS) at the Autofill tab in the SafeInCloud desktop app’s Options.

The exact type of Windows Hello authentication can be configured in the Sign-in options of the Windows 10’s Settings app.

Note: Windows Hello Face authentication requires pressing the confirmation button. This cannot be disabled.
